Ay, ay, ay… As soon as sent out this month’s Recap post, I remembered I had completely forgot to mentioned the things that made me very happy. I told you September was a bit crazy…
Anyway, two new foreign editions of my books came out recently! The first one was The Pet Potato (written by brilliant Josh Lacey) Japanese edition (published by Koguma-sha)! The story is about a boy who gets a potato when he asked for a pet. I of course get excited about any foreign editions but Japanese editions always take a special spot in my heart as it’s my mother language. A few weeks ago, my mum spotted the book in two bookshops and sent me some pictures!
The second one is Avocado Asks Spanish edition! Avocado Asks is my first baby so I’m so proud to see the book is traveling around the world. I’m extra excited about this Spanish edition because I studied Spanish in college and I have quite a few Spanish speaking friends. This one was published by Tutifruti Editorial. Actually, I met the publisher, Irena, at this year’s Bologna Children’s Book Fair in person. She told me that, when she was in New York, someone recommended Avocado Asks to her and she fell in love with the book and publishing it in Spanish became her mission. So she was in Bologna to make a co-edition deal with Hachette. She found out I was also in Bologna so she asked me to meet up. I rarely get to interact with, not to mention meet, co-edition publishers so I was so touched by Irena’s enthusiasm. She sealed the deal and, 6 months later, the Spanish edition was born! Thank you!
Unfortunately, I haven’t received copies of these books yet (I always have so much trouble receiving gratis/advance copies at my address for some reasons) but I can’t wait to read them!
